Export checklist for a ranking short

Export is the point where a ranking short becomes a file you can regret. The checklist is short because the editor has already made most of the layout decisions. Your job is to confirm the file matches the preview and that you are willing to post what is inside it.

Do this once per video, in order. Skipping to “it probably exported” is how a watermark or a silent file ships.

Before you press Export

• The rail has exactly the count you selected. Empty slots mean the button will refuse. Bench clips are not in the file. Look at the badges: #N through #1, top of the list first.
• Every title is a title, not a filename. Read them in the preview, not only in the form.
• Each hold starts on the action. Remember the editor plays from the start of the file. If the good frame is later, trim and re-add.
• You can publish the picture and the audio in every file. One uncleared song is enough to spoil the upload.
• You have watched the preview all the way through, including the intro card’s series title. The series title is the promise. If it is wrong, fix it before the encode. Changing it later means exporting again.

Large-file warnings are part of this pass. A card that says the file is large is telling you the preview may stutter. Export still uses only the seconds you set, but a huge source can make the tab hitch. Trim if you can.

The export itself

Keep the tab visible. The render is real time so clip audio stays lined up with the picture. The progress label should move. “Rendering the ranking short” and a filling bar means it is working. A bar that freezes while you are looking at another window is the browser pausing the page. Come back.

Cancel works. Cancelling does not leave a partial download. If the encode fails, the panel says why. The usual reason is that this browser cannot encode H.264. The fallback is a WebM, and the note will say that. Do not rename a WebM to .mp4 and hope. Play it. If you need MP4, open the editor in current Chrome or Edge and export again.

Free exports are 720×1280 with a shortsrank.com mark, and they include at most three clips at four seconds. If you had five clips loaded, the dialog asks before it cuts. Read it. “Export the free cut” means you accepted the shorter video. Lifetime exports are 1080×1920, up to ten clips, eight seconds, no mark — after the unlock is actually on. A local testing unlock is labeled as a test. A real payment is a Waffo receipt for this site only, once that store exists.

After the file is on disk

Play the download in a normal player, not only in the editor. You are checking for four things:

1. The order is the order you ranked. #1 is last.
2. The titles are spelled. The plate ellipsizes. If a word you need is gone, shorten the title and export again.
3. Audio is what you expected. Sample scenes are silent. Real clips should have their own sound during the hold and not a doubled echo. If the file is silent and you expected sound, the note under the export already warned you. Re-export from Chrome, or accept the silent file and add a sound in the posting app from a library you are allowed to use.
4. The watermark is either present, because you are on the free plan, or absent, because you unlocked lifetime. Do not discover the mark after you posted.

Check the edges on a phone. The rank should not sit under the status area. The title should not sit in the caption block. If you are posting to TikTok, the right-hand buttons take space. The TikTok recipe describes that cover. Slam and Board are both inset. A title you later lengthen in another app may not be.

Filename and cover

The download name comes from the series title, slugified, with .mp4 or .webm. Rename it if your series title was a joke you do not want in a filename. The bytes do not care.

When the app asks for a cover, pick a frame where the rank is readable. The sting frames are the obvious choice. A dark underexposed hold makes a bad grid image even if the video is fine.

What you do not need to check here

You do not need a view estimate. You do not need to re-time the video to a trend. You do not need to upload the project, because there is no project on a server — the privacy page is explicit that clips stay in the browser. If the tab crashes before you download, the export is gone and the source files are still on your disk. Add them again. That is annoying and it is also the trade for not uploading.

When the file plays and the rights are clean, post it from the app. The editor’s job ended at the download.

Questions

Why did I get a WebM?

The browser could not encode H.264. Chrome and Edge on desktop are the path that writes MP4. The export note names the format you received.

The progress bar stopped. Is it frozen?

If the tab is in the background, rendering waits. Come back to the tab. If a clip failed to decode, the card shows an error instead of spinning forever.

Should I upload the free file?

You can. It has a watermark, at most three clips, and it is 720p. If that is not the video you want public, use the lifetime export or shorten the cut on purpose.
