Ranking template

Short answer: A ranking template here is a count, a hold, a skin, and a title pattern for a vertical countdown of clips you filmed. A tier list template of rows you drag is a different tool, and this editor does not draw one.

How to apply a ranking template

  1. Open the structure, not a saved project. Each structure below links to the editor with a length, a skin, a sample preset, and a series title. Nothing is stored on a server. Closing the tab drops the preview. The link is the template.
  2. Watch the sample, then remove it. Demo links load drawings and play them. Sample replaces the rail. Add clips appends your MP4, WebM, or MOV after those cards. Remove each drawing with ✕ so your files occupy the countdown. The rail holds ten cards at most.
  3. Set the seconds the link cannot set. The URL chooses 3, 5, or 10, Slam or Board, and the series title. It does not choose the hold. A Top 10 sample arrives at 3 seconds. A Top 3 or Top 5 sample arrives at 4. Move the slider in half-second steps. Free stops at 4. Lifetime stops at 8. The minimum is 2.
  4. Retitle, preview, export. Replace filenames with the pattern for that structure. Play once muted and once with sound. Export with the tab visible. Free download keeps the first three cards, at most 4 seconds, with a shortsrank.com mark, at 720×1280. Lifetime is the clean file on the pricing page.

A ranking template, for this site, is a set of decisions you would otherwise remake on every countdown: how many clips, how long each one stays up, which of the two skins you use, what the series is called, and what shape the line on each clip takes. It is not a project file, not a sticker pack, and not a folder of twelve visual themes. The editor link above opens a Top 5 in Slam so you can see the only machine those decisions run on.

Search pages are full of blank boards: drag a name into a row, export a picture, post the picture. That is a reasonable thing to want. It is a different object from a video that counts down. The structures on this page all produce the video. If a picture is the post you meant, the comparison further down names that split and points you at a still-image tool.

Two skins exist, and every structure uses one of them. Slam is a dark field, a large rank on the hold, and a title plate. Board is a paper frame, the rank above a rounded clip, and the title underneath. You cannot mix them inside one file. You cannot upload a third skin. Presets do not add skins either. A preset is a sample order plus a default series name: general becomes “Top N ranking”, gaming becomes “Top N gaming fails”, sports becomes “Top N sports moments”, products becomes “Top N product picks”, and tiktok becomes “Top N countdown”. The drawings behind those names are the same small set of silent pictures. Your files replace the drawings only after you remove the sample cards.

That limit is why a ranking template here can still be specific. The specificity is the brief you follow while the chrome stays put: a count the footage earns, a hold the title can survive, and lines that match each other. The ranking maker page is the broader job of ordering entries into a countdown. This page is the brief you load.

Twelve ranking template structures

Each block lists the item count, the hold to set, a rough runtime from this editor’s intro, sting, and outro, the skin, the copy, and the link that applies the part the URL can apply. Runtimes are estimates: intro and outro together are about two and a half seconds, and each rank adds a sting of just under half a second plus the hold. They are the same arithmetic the Top 10 countdown maker page uses. They are not a promise about watch time inside an app.

Top 3 proof

Three clips, four seconds each, about 16 seconds, Slam. Series line: “Top 3” plus the category, for example “Top 3 from one session”. Clip lines: one claim in a few words, the same kind of claim on every card. “Open-net miss” is the shape. “Clip 3” is not.

Open the Top 3 sample. Three is the length that still feels like a ranking and still exports whole on the free plan: three cards, four seconds, the mark, 720×1280. Use it when you have three moments that differ and a fourth would be a repeat. If you are stretching a pair into three, stop at the pair and do not publish a padded count. The length buttons have no Top 2. Two items is a comparison you should cut in a full editor, or one more honest clip you still need to film. The Top 3 countdown maker page is the pacing argument. This block is only the settings.

Top 5 standard

Five clips, four seconds each, about 25 seconds, Slam. Series line: “Top 5” plus the category. Clip lines: a result, a constraint, or a place, readable in one glance. The first card (#5, top of the rail) teaches the category. The last card is the one you would not spoil in the first second.

Open the Top 5 sample. You can preview all five on the free plan. A free download keeps the first three unless you have the lifetime unlock. Reorder so the three you could stand to publish as a short excerpt are not an accident of the rail. If all five are the video, confirm you want the clean export before you promise five items in the caption. The Top 5 countdown maker page is where the five seats are discussed one by one. Recipes that are naturally five: products you filmed, gaming fails, and sports moments.

Top 10 glimpse

Ten clips, three seconds each, about 37 seconds, Slam. Series line: “Top 10” plus a category narrow enough that a stranger understands it in the intro. Clip lines: one or two words of the same pattern. All outcomes, all places, or all objections. Do not mix a joke, a sentence, and a filename.

Open the Top 10 sample. The sample already arrives at three seconds, which is the hold this structure wants. Lifetime is required to export all ten. Free preview still plays ten, and the dialog will offer the first three. Ten only works when each item is a glimpse. If each item needs a story, use the Top 5 standard structure instead of filming five extra clips you will apologize for in the title.

Top 10 short holds

Ten clips, two seconds each, about 27 seconds, Slam. Same copy rules as the glimpse, stricter. At two seconds the title is a label, not a sentence. If the point of the clip is not visible in the first second, it does not belong in this structure.

Open the same Top 10 sample and move every seconds slider to 2.0. The link cannot do that step. Two seconds is the slider’s minimum, so this is as short as the editor will make a ten-item countdown. It is still about 27 seconds once the stings and the cards are included. Use it when you already know the audience will not sit through the three-second version. Do not use it to hide weak clips. A weak clip at two seconds is still a weak clip, and it still costs a number.

Product countdown

Five clips, four seconds each, about 25 seconds, Board. Series line: “Top 5 product picks”, or a narrower line you type, such as “Top 5 on this shelf”. Clip lines: the difference the frame shows, not the slogan on the box. “The heavy unbox”. “The one on the end”. “Still in the tissue”.

Open the product sample. The products preset loads a sample order aimed at shelf, unbox, and kitchen drawings, and Board keeps a bright frame readable. Those drawings are not products you sell. Film the object in your hands. A scraped catalog photo will not import, because stills are refused. If you only have five names and a spreadsheet of prices, this structure has nothing to play. Write the price in the title only when the clip shows the tag. Otherwise the price belongs in the caption of the post.

Game countdown

Five clips, four seconds each, about 25 seconds, Slam. Series line: “Top 5 gaming fails”, or a line that matches the footage if the clips are clutches rather than fails. Do not call highlights fails. Clip lines: the outcome. “Last-second clutch”. “One bullet left”. The mode name, five times, is not a ranking.

Open the gaming sample. Slam suits dark captures. Use only captures you recorded. Putting a number on someone else’s stream does not create a license. Trim the lobby out before you add the file. The hold starts at frame one. A fail that needs eight seconds of run-up is a Lifetime slider setting, and only on that one card. Giving all five the long hold makes a different, slower video than this structure.

Sports countdown

Five clips, four seconds each, about 25 seconds, Slam. Series line: “Top 5 sports moments”, or the match, the practice, or the drill you actually filmed. Clip lines: the place or the constraint the picture cannot say by itself. “Far post, phone footage”. “Still 0–0”.

Open the sports sample. Sideline phone video is the intended source. A television copy is not. If the interesting frame is buried in a long file, trim it elsewhere. Past 60 MB the card warns you. Past 180 MB the file is refused. Five angles of one goal are one moment. Rank moments that a viewer could tell apart with the sound off.

Food countdown

Five clips, four seconds each, about 25 seconds, Board. There is no food preset. Series line: you type it. “Top 5 from one stove” is a pattern that stays honest. Clip lines: the result you can see. “Burnt edge”. “The second pancake”. “Too sweet” only if the face or the wince is in the clip. A recipe’s ingredient list does not fit the plate.

Open the general Board sample and replace the series if you want a tighter line. The general preset’s drawings include a kitchen picture. It is a drawing. Film the pan or the plate. Four seconds is long enough to see the dish and short enough that five dishes still end near the 25 second mark. If you only photographed the plates, this structure does not start. Shoot a few seconds, with the bite or the crumb at the first frame.

Travel countdown

Five clips, four seconds each, about 25 seconds, Slam. There is no travel preset and no map. Series line: “Top 5 stops” plus the trip you took, if the clips are from that trip. Clip lines: the place and the one fact the frame shows. “Downhill line” is a sample title about a drawing. Your line should name your street, your gate, or your lookout.

Open the general Slam sample. Five stops at four seconds suit places that need a second look. If you have ten glimpses, switch the length to 10, set three seconds or two, and follow the Top 10 structures instead of forcing a speech into each hold. Footage has to be yours. A countdown of cities you have only seen in other people’s films is a list you cannot prove, and the editor will not download those films for you.

Best-moment countdown

Five clips, four seconds each, about 25 seconds, Slam. Series line: “Top 5 best moments” only if they are best moments. If they are failures, say failures. Clip lines: the peak, not the date of the recording. One peak per file. The run-up belongs in the trim only when the run-up is the joke.

Open the best-moments sample. Then do the cut described on ranking best moments: find the peak in your long file, export a short piece that starts on it, add that piece. The seconds slider will not scrub to the middle of a match. Use this structure when you already have the five peaks. Use the Top 3 proof when you only have three that survive a second viewing.

Free complete file

Three clips, four seconds each, about 16 seconds, Slam. Series line: short enough to read on the intro, specific enough that the three clips match it. Clip lines: the same pattern as the Top 3 proof. The point of this structure is the export, not a new look.

Open the Top 3 sample. Leave the sliders at 4.0 or below. Export and accept the free file if a watermarked 720×1280 countdown is what you meant to post. The preview and the download then contain the same three cards. That is the property the longer structures do not have on the free plan. The free ranking video maker page lists the rest of the ceiling: no removal of the mark, no 1080p, no fourth card. Lifetime is $24 once, on the pricing page, and it is the way to export a five or a ten whole. This structure exists so you can finish a real count without that unlock.

Bright-footage Board

Five clips, four seconds each, about 25 seconds, Board. Use three or ten if the count is the part you already decided. The skin is the point. Series line: whatever the category is. Clip lines: unchanged from the structure whose count you borrowed. Board is the choice when the footage is bright, pale, or cluttered and Slam’s cream type would sit on a similar tone.

Open the Board sample. Switch the length button if you do not want five. The skin stays on Board until you press Slam. Busy dark game capture usually wants Slam instead, which is why the game structure specifies Slam. Product, food, and daylight travel often want this one. You learn that by watching the sample on a phone or in a narrow window, not by collecting themes. There is no third button.

A still tier board and a countdown video

A tier list template is a grid. Items move between rows. The rows have names you invent. The usual export is a picture someone can read without pressing play. People look for that when the opinion is a sort, the items are names or icons, and nobody needs to watch #8 to understand #1.

What the item has to beOften a name, an icon, or a stillA video file that plays from the first frame
What this site buildsIt does not build the pictureThe countdown in the other column

Use a tier-list image tool when that table’s left column is the post. ShortsRank will not draw the rows, will not import a poster of icons, and will not turn a screenshot of a board into a countdown. The alternative, if you later want the same opinion as a video, is to film a few seconds of each item you would have dropped in a row, then come back to a structure above. A screen recording of a tier board, with our number burned on top, is a poor hybrid. The board’s text fights the rank, and you still need the rights to whatever is inside the recording.

The right column is the ranking template these sections describe. Twelve briefs, two skins, three lengths. If the brief you need is “mask the background, caption the speech, and hit a drum,” that brief is a full editor. The CapCut comparison says when to start there. It does not list these counts and lines. The two pages meet in the middle: do the countdown in the lighter tool when the countdown is the whole short, and do not pretend either page replaces the other.

Title patterns that fit the plate

The series field and each clip title stop at 80 characters. The plate shows about two lines and then ellipsizes. The intro can wrap the series a little further, and then it ellipsizes too. Write the line, then delete two words. If it still tells the truth, keep the shorter one.

Patterns that survive that cut:

Patterns that waste the plate:

The sample titles already in the editor are a length reference, not a script. “Last-second clutch”, “The heavy unbox”, “Third pan try”, “When the crowd turns”. Use them to see how much type fits. Then write your own. A ranking template that ships with someone else’s jokes is a template you would have to apologize for. These structures ship with patterns and with drawings you are supposed to delete.

Read the clip titles in play order, from the top of the rail to the bottom. The first one is the proof of the series line. If the series says “fails” and the first title is a compliment, change the series or change the clip. The last title is the one that has to deserve the wait. If you cannot say why it is last, it is not #1. Swap it. The up and down buttons exist for that argument.

How long each structure runs

Use this when you are choosing a structure because of the clock, not because of the subject. Holds are the setting you control. The cards and the stings are not.

StructureCountHoldAbout
Top 3 proof, and the free complete file34 seconds16 seconds
Top 5 standard, product, game, sports, food, travel, best moments, Board54 seconds25 seconds
Top 10 glimpse103 seconds37 seconds
Top 10 short holds102 seconds27 seconds

A single longer card changes the total by the extra seconds only. One eight-second hold among four-second neighbors adds about four seconds, and it is a Lifetime slider. The free slider will not go past four, so you cannot preview that long hold until this browser has the unlock. The table’s “about” figures match a countdown where every hold is the same. They include the intro, the stings, and the outro. They do not include anything you add later in another app.

If the number you want is under about 20 seconds, you are in Top 3 territory, or in a Top 5 with holds pulled down toward two or three seconds. Five clips at two seconds land near 15 seconds. Five at three seconds land near 20. You can build those variants from the Top 5 standard link by moving the sliders. They are not separate skins. If the number you want is over about 45 seconds, a Top 10 at four-second holds is about 47 seconds, and at eight seconds it is too long for one short. The Top 10 page already argues that case. This ranking template does not add an eleventh length to make the clock match a trend.

Work that stays outside the editor

Applying a structure does not clear rights, trim the master recording, write the caption, pick the cover, or choose the account. Do those around the tab.

Trim first, in a cutter you already trust, so the action is the first frame. Name the trimmed file after the claim you expect to type. Add MP4, WebM, or MOV. If a MOV fails, it is often HEVC. Make an H.264 MP4 and add the new file. Keep each piece small. The warning starts above 60 MB. The refusal starts above 180 MB.

After the download, the file can go to YouTube Shorts, TikTok, or Reels. The editor does not post it and does not attach a sound from an app library. If you need a track, add it in the app that has the license, or leave the clip audio as it is. Baking a song you downloaded from somewhere else into the MP4 will keep the song, and the post can be claimed. There is no voiceover track to write. If the video is a narrated list and you have no footage, this is the wrong template and the wrong site.

A full editor still earns its place when the countdown is one scene inside a longer piece, or when you need masks, speech captions, speed ramps, or a cold open that flashes the winner and then rewinds. Build that piece there. You can drop this export in as the countdown scene instead of recreating the numbers by hand. The CapCut comparison is the fair version of that handoff. The click path for the buttons, if you stay here, is how to make a ranking short. Platform edges for the same file are YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and the TikTok countdown.

What you should remember from the twelve blocks is smaller than a theme gallery. Pick the count the footage earns. Set the hold the title can survive. Use Slam or Board, not a third look. Type lines that match. Remove the sample drawings. Export a file you can post, or accept the free cut the dialog describes. That is the ranking template this editor can keep.

Questions

Is this a tier list template?

No. A tier list template lays items in rows such as S, A, B, and C and usually exports a picture. ShortsRank plays clips from the highest number down to #1 and exports a vertical video. If you need the picture, use a tier-list image tool. If you have a clip per item, use one of the structures below.

Do these twelve structures look like twelve different themes?

No. The editor has two skins, Slam and Board. The structures differ by length, hold, series title, clip-title pattern, and which sample preset the link loads. Presets change the sample drawings and the default series name. They do not change the layout.

Can I save a template and reopen it tomorrow?

No. There is no account library. The editor link reopens the length, the skin, the preset, and the series title. Your clip files stay on your disk. Add them again in the new tab.

Why does a five-clip structure not export all five for free?

Free export keeps the first three cards in the rail, caps holds at 4 seconds, adds the mark, and writes 720×1280. You can preview all five. The dialog names the cut. A Top 3 is the structure that exports as a complete count on the free plan. Lifetime exports the length you previewed, up to ten, at 1080×1920, without the mark. Lifetime is $24 once.

Is there a food preset or a travel preset?

No. Food and travel structures use the general sample. Change the series title, film the dishes or the places yourself, and remove the drawings. The kitchen and street samples are not your footage.

Can I edit the closing line?

No. The outro is the fixed line “THAT IS THE ORDER”. You edit the series title, which appears on the intro with the words TOP and the length, and you edit each clip title. Both fields stop at 80 characters.

How is this different from the CapCut comparison?

The CapCut page is about when a full editor is the right tool. This page is the list of countdown structures you can load here. ShortsRank is not affiliated with CapCut. A template inside a full editor can hold masks, speech captions, and beat sync. This one cannot.
